The A88XM-A and A55BM-A/USB3 are Asus’ first FM2+ boards designed to support AMD’s upcoming Kaveri mid-range APUs. Of course, they are also backwards compatible Trinity and Richland parts.
Both are mATX boards and they incorporate a range of cutting edge features, such as PCIe 3.0, USB 3.0 and USB 3.0 Boost. The boards also have a new Fan Xpert fan controller, Asus 5X Protection Technology and DIGI+ VRM.
However, the boards aren’t exactly ready to handle FM2+ parts just yet. They will need a BIOS and driver update to handle the new chips, which doesn’t sound like a big deal. Asus is planning to introduce the rest of its FM2+ motherboard range later in the year.
There is still no word on pricing or availability, but since they’re no frills mATX boards they should come cheap.
